Christmas in Argentina

Every year on Christmas Eve we write what we are giving the savior for his birthday on a christmas card and put it on the christmas tree.  It has been a family tradition since the very first Christmas of our family.  It is one of my favorite traditions.  Our kids were not able to visit this Christmas so they sent us paper dolls of themselves with a gift to Jesus attached.  We could not love anything more!  What a treasure we will keep forever!  My favorite gifts to Jesus were the babies.  Scarlett's said she would stop screeching during prayers for attention and Cash's said he would be better at church!  We really missed our family but were so blessed that technology is so far advanced that we spent most of the day on zoom!  It such a blessing to be able to feel like we were there!

Feliz Navidad!

One of my favorite names for Jesus is “The prince of peace”

Especially today in a world where people are worried, angry, frustrated, lonely and sad - we all need the peace that the savior offers

I love how Christ came into this world just like everyone of us as a baby.

He had the same human experience that we are having.  He experienced his own feelings of sadness, disappointment, anger, loneliness.

At the last supper when he was about to face the most extreme suffering the world has ever known

Christ proclaimed John 14:27“ Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you….. Let not your heart be troubled neither let it be afraid."

When we are feeling overwhelmed, frustrated, sad, worried or lonely

it is comforting to remember  the Savior knows what it’s like to feel this way.

He knows how  to comfort us, heal us and bring us peace

Learning Spanish I have found that sometimes the scriptures are interesting because they will use

different words that create a better understanding for me.

Hebrews 4:16 it reads “ Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.”

In Spanish ‘’Acerquémonos, pues, confiadamente al trono de la gracia, para alcanzar misericordia, y hallar gracia para el oportuno socorro.’’

In spanish the scripture uses the word confiadamente, which in english means confident, convinced or sure

In English the scripture uses the word boldly which means - without hesitation.

I love how that brings a clearer meaning to the scripture

Because Christ knows our pain perfectly, we can approach him without hesitation and with confidence that we will obtain GRACE and MERCY in our time of need. His love and compassion for each of us is deep and real.

Because Jesus Christ is the prince of peace - if we want to find more peace in our lives we need to strengthen our relationship with him.

By learning of him,

spending time praying

listening to him,

and acknowledging every day the ways he shows his love to you.

When christ was born that christmas night the angels proclaimed

“On earth peace, good will toward men” Luke 2:14

On the evening before his suffering in gethsemane and death on the cross the savior met with his disciples for the Last supper.

He said to them   John 16:33

"Be of good cheer; I have overcome the world."

From the beginning of his life to the very end of his life, peace is a core message from our savior. Mosiah 15:18 “ The lord who has redeemed his people is the founder of peace”

What a beautiful gift -the gift of peace. May we all find the peace we are looking for! Merry Christmas!

Los Refuerzos, Los Refuerzos, Los Refuerzos and a few Los Fieles

This last month has been a logistical miracle!  You thought I was going to say "nightmare" hahaha Honestly the craziest thing I have ever experienced.  We went from 40 missionaries to 80 in 1 month.  From the moment Argentina opened its borders the missionary department has tried to send as many missionaries as they could from their reassignments.  We have had miracle after miracle as we have worked at getting enough apartments ready for the new missionaries.  I am not kidding when I say miracles.  We have been here for 5 months and from day one we tried to get new apartments and in the 5 months we have been here we have obtained ........... ONE...........   that is not a joke.  It has been very hard to find a suitable apartment, sign all the contracts and furnish the apartment.  In the last 5 weeks we have found, signed and furnished ...........FIFTEEN.......  It is crazy!  It is a testimony that this is the Lord's work and he is in charge.

Every time we found another apartment right where we needed it, when 2 days before there was nothing available, this scripture would repeat in my mind

1 Nephi 9:6

But the Lord knoweth all things from the beginning; wherefore, he prepareth a way to acccomplish all his work among the children of men; for behold, he hath power unto the fulfilling of all his words.  And thus it is. Amen.

I LOVE the part where it says AND THUS IT IS........ I think I said that to myself every time we witnessed another miracle.

Mission Tour

What a treat to have Elder and Sister Costa of the 1st Quorum of the Seventy visit our mission.  We started in Bariloche and ended in Neuquen.   We had great councils in the car as we drove many hours together.  We had 2 zone conferences and a stake conference, lots of interviews with missionaries, toured pensions and were able to have a special meeting with only the Sisters in our mission with Sister Costa.  We were inspired and loved by these great leaders.  Thursday was a Thanksgiving and we were so busy with the Costas we forgot until our North American missionaries asked if they could call home.  hahaha. But if you know me very well that is a huge tender mercy!  It is so warm here (It is summer in this part of the world)  and with our visitors I didn't feel like I was missing out!  What a great week we had!  They gave us very helpful council and we were inspired and felt their love and support!

In Stake Conference Elder Lucero - another visiting authority - shared this Scripture
D&C 93:39
And that wicked one cometh and taketh away light and truth, through disobedience, from the children of men, and because of the tradition of their fathers.

It made me ask myself if I there are any traditions I have that keep me from living the gospel to it's fullest.   Or are there any traditions I have passed down to my children that keep them from living the gospel to its fullest.  There are probably a few........

What a great week!  And now on to MORE missionaries!  We have 15 coming on Saturday!
