I know....... I am writing before the transfer ends. I have gotten in a habit of only writing for each transfer. But I need to repent because daily our wonderful missionaries tell me stories that I NEVER want to forget. I am going to be better about writing them here on my blog so I can put them into a book and have them forever. I always ask my missionaries if it is ok to share their story on my blog.
Hermana Fraser and Hermana Jones
These sweet sisters just opened a new area and were walking down the street and just didn't know where they should go. They stopped in the street and decided to say a prayer and ask the Lord which direction they should go. When they finished their prayer, Hermana Fraser had a strong feeling to knock the door right in front of them. She said she isn't sure why she decided not to listen to that voice, but knows she had a very strong feeling she should knock that door. She didn't and they started walking down the street. A few hours later while they were eating lunch with a member, the member told her she had an inactive family she thought they should go visit. She gave them the address and after lunch they went to go find it.
It was the door Hermana Fraser only a few hours earlier felt she should knock after their prayer. So this time they knocked on the door and a young girl answered the door. She told them her parents weren't home but would be home the next day and set up a time for them to come back.
The next day when they went back, the family was so happy to see them and had a feast of pancakes ready for them. This family had been inactive for awhile. The mother said yesterday she saw them stop and pray in front of her house and thought "I think they are looking for me."
What a sweet story of how the Lord will have his purposes fulfilled even if we don't listen the first time.
I also love having a front row seat watching these wonderful missionaries learn and grow in the gospel!
Hermana Shumard
Hermana Shumard is from Texas and has not been in Argentina very long. It is a tough transition to come and live in a new country with a different culture and with a language you do not speak. I am in awe at how fast they learn the language. But it is a very long 12 or more weeks of understanding very little of what is going on. One morning Hermana Shumard was struggling to get herself motivated to face a long day. She was questioning if she really should be here. She knelt down to pray and pour out her heart to the lord, hoping to feel comfort and peace. After she prayed she didn't really feel that much better. These Hermanas live in an apartment building with an elevator. As they were in the elevator going out for the day, a man stepped in the elevator. She had never seen him before. He said to her in perfect English "You are here for a reason, you should trust that". He then left and they haven't ever seen him again. She knew that was a direct answer to her prayer.
The Lord is mindful of each of us and our struggles and if the spirit prompts you to do something or say something, do it. He is probably answering someone elses prayer.
